We understand that some of you are getting impatient. Therefore we would like to inform you about the yachtdesigntalent-contest. Unfortunately, in contrast to former announcements, we are sorry to tell you that we need to postpone the contest to the beginning of 2018.
We are going to be totally honest with you!
At the beginning of 2017 we reorganised our Sea Level company services. For several reasons my business partner Bastiën and I decided to end our Yacht Design activities. Our core business for the future will be as follows: Naval Architecture, Structural Design & Engineering for Super Yachts.
We both do hope that you can imagine that such a reorganisation takes time and energy before the company is settled again.
We believe the organisation of the YDTA-contest deserves full attention that we are not able to give at this moment. We are deeply sorry for this!
The good news is that we do intend to continue the YDTA-contest every year together with a well-known international yacht designer, starting mid March 2018 with a prize-giving at the Monaco Yacht Show in September 2018.
Alright, now for those students who aren’t mad at us because of the above, we have come up with a crazy idea that might be interesting for you in the meanwhile.
Beside the contest we want to introduce a “pass it on because it’s fun” design sequence run via the social media (FB & Instagram)
We will release a Super Yacht concept in September and highlight an area that may be redesigned by a selected yachtdesigntalent-fan, he/she will release again and pass it on to the next selected YDTA-fan.
After 10 releases we are going to overview the changes the concept has endured.
WHY? Because it’s FUN!
You like the idea? Than hit the ‘like’ emoji in Facebook and you might become a candidate for this sequence.
Keep in touch! Best & many thanks Bastiën & Jeroen
Winner YachtDesignTalent 2015
By winning the contest Jeff Summers got the opportunity to do a 3-months internship at the Sea Level office in Amsterdam.
He developed his design, created awsome lay outs and a fully detailed 3D exterior and presented it to superyachtbuilder Heesen Yachts.
Hear his story it will encourage you to participate, for sure!
THE FIRST 4 YEARS THE CONTEST WAS TARGETED ON DUTCH STUDENTS.
IN 2015 WE WERE READY FOR AN INTERNATIONAL ORGANISATION. WE FOUND GREAT SUPPORT BY INTERNATIONALLY RENOWNED BUSINESSES AS HEESEN YACHTS AND SUPERYACHT TIMES.
THESE COMPANIES WILL BE PARTNER & SPONSOR OF THE CONTEST AGAIN AND TOGETHER WITH THEM WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS YEARS’S YACHTDESIGNTALENT-CONTEST!
WHY DOING THIS?
WELL IT’S BEEN A WHILE, BUT WE WERE STUDENTS OURSELVES AS WELL.
WE TRY TO ELIMINATE THE GAP BETWEEN EDUCATION AND THE YACHTING INDUSTRY, BECAUSE WE THINK THAT THERE IS NO NEED FOR THIS GAP! WE LOVE WORKING TOGETHER WITH YOU STUDENTS AND INSPIRE YOU IN DESIGNING YACHTS.
OUR AIM IS TO CREATE A PLATFORM THAT HELPS YOU IN GETTING YOU THERE.
FINALLY, WE ARE ALWAYS LOOKING FOR NEW INSPIRATION AND TALENT AND ESPECIALLY FRESH IDEAS!
